Membership Benefits 2007
The Wiscasset Yacht Club (WYC) provides its members access
to their boats and the Wiscasset waterfront with all its
amenities. Members also enjoy opportunities to meet and
socialize with others who share an interest in boats and
exploring Maines coastal waters.
Founded in 1952, the club has strived to maintain its
founders commitment to operating a club accessible to all
who share an enthusiasm for boating. Club dues are low
because members volunteer time and skills to operate the
club and maintain the clubhouse. Members with and without
boats are welcome, but most of our members own boats,
ranging in size from a 12- foot fishing boat to 50-foot
sailboats. New members are always welcome.
Membership
Benefits:
Two first-come, first-serve
guest moorings are provided by the Town of Wiscasset. A
club tender is provided on our floats for those who wish to
use it or ample floats provide space for docking your own.
From May to Labor Day, weekend Stewards are on-site to
assist members. Local phone service, lockers, restroom and
shower facilities are available. Despite busy summertime
crowds in Wiscasset, club members enjoy plenty of
harbor-front free parking. Use of the clubhouse, dock and
floats during the season (May to October) make getting out
on the water more convenient. Despite a membership of
approximately 150, members often have the clubhouse and the
deck virtually to themselves. The club is also available by
rental for events -- offering over 1100 square feet of
function space overlooking the picturesque Sheepscot River
with an outside deck and help yourself kitchen and dining
facilities. Club events such as Summer and Fall Socials, a
Family Day, a Club Rendezvous Cruise, and a Potluck help to
acquaint members. Courtesy privileges with other yacht
clubs help make travel more enjoyable. Typically, clubs
provide other yacht club members use of their facilities at
no charge or reduced fees.
